1. CLASSES
Kick off the year with fabulous classes to get you moving, meet new friends and have fun!
City studio - 22 Webb St , Wellington (above the Locksmith shop)
Block 1 Starts Weds 14th January
Level 1 Lindy 7 - 8pm
Do you have friends, colleagues or family talking about starting a new hobby or new form of exercise? Bring them along to Beginners and watch them catch the Jitterbug! No partner or previous experienced required. We will take you through the basics and give you the confidence to get out there on the dance floor. Expect lots of great tunes!
Social practice time 8.00-8.30
Come along early or stay after class for some social time. Teachers will be on hand to help with any questions you may have.
Level 2 8.30 – 9.30pm
For dancers who have completed 2 Beginners blocks or those of you who want to hone their technique. The focus is on building up the basics (swing out, lindy circle etc) and lead/follow techniques while having a lot of fun. We can now link up moves, add styling and learn to play with the music.
Petone studio - Wilford School Hall on William Street
Block 1 Starts Thurs 15th January
Level 1 Lindy 7 - 8pm
See description above. Fantastic large floor, plenty of room to practise your swinging moves. This is usually a more intimate class which offers great 1 on 1 time!
Social practice time 8.00-8.30
Come along early or stay after class for some social time. Teachers will be on hand to help with any questions you may have.
Level 3 Lindy 8.30 – 9.30pm
Classes focus on pushing those swing limits! For dancers who are competent dancers and definitely have a good grasp of the basics. More great music - we work on new moves, frame, styling, musicality, floor craft, advanced lead/follow, techniques for dancing to slow or fast tempos, and more.
Cost: Courses cost $60 per person for a 6 class pass, valid at either venue.
2. Art Deco Swing! Napier, February 19- 22nd
The Art Deco Weekend in Napier is a regular feature on all swing dancers' calendars and in 2009, Full Swing, Hepcat Swing and Jitterbugs are combining to make it even more dancer friendly!
The Inaugural Art Deco Swing will feature:
- dedicated dancers' accommodation at Criterion Backpackers, a beautiful Art Deco style building located right on the doorstep to the main social events;
- 6x swing dance workshops from some of New Zealand's best dancers and teachers;
- a special Art Deco Swing Pass which gets you both accommodation and all workshops for a bargain price;
- all the fabulous social events usually associated with the Geon Art Deco Weekend

Bringing a little piece of history of the Savoy Ballroom (“home of happy feet”) to Full Swing…Get your glad rags on..come dance with us..get your Lindy Groove on!
Club Happy Feet is held once a month on a Saturday night. The night kicks off with an absolute beginners class followed by social dancing to DJ music till late.
The beginners class is a great opportunity for people to come and experience the swing addiction our classes offer! - so if you know someone who you think would enjoy swing dancing - why not bring them along to try it out.
It’s a great way to bring all those moves together and practice, practice, practice, cuttin’ the rug with your classmates; this is a great opportunity to see dancers of all levels at play as well as occasionally getting to see guest dancers in action.

Absolute beginner class – super easy and loads of fun
8.00pm til late
Social dancing to DJ music, lights turned down, awesome tunes

ASB Gardens Magic Concert Series 2009 Starts January 11th
Held on 11 January - 1 February 2009, the concerts start at 8pm each evening, in the Sound Shell of the Wellington Botanical Gardens
There are 22 consecutive nights of practically every musical genre imaginable and we can usual find a couple of bands good to dance to.
Our picks for this year include:
22 January Twinset featuring Lisa Tomlins - Jazz
23 January Tyson Smith - Jazz, rock
26 January Peter Shaw & the Blue 56 - Blues (maybe)
1 February Blondes just off Broadway- Show tunes (just for fun!)

Liberty Swing Band playing the 1st Sunday every month at the Johnsonville RSA 3-5pm starting February 1st
It is open entry with no cover charge - just sign the visitor book on entry. There is a large dance floor and reasonably priced drinks, with a $10.00 roast dinner in the RSA Restaurant commencing at 5.00pm. There will also be a jazz quarter playing after the Swing Band so there’s plenty of dancing opportunity to be had.
