What could be better than stomping your feet and making a lot of noise?
Stomping your feet and making a lot of noise with style!
The iconic dance of vaudeville and musicals, tap dancing is one of the most widely recognised, entertaining and above all fun styles of dance around. Come along and follow in the footsteps of Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers by learning to tap! The six week block course will cover the basic steps and sounds, along with balance, rhythm and musicality. Taught at absolute beginner level, this will be a great class for lindy hoppers and first time dancers alike.
Tap shoes are awesome if you have them but not required; wear hard soled (non rubber) shoes and clothes that your feet and ankles can move easily in without getting tangled.
Starting on Wednesday January 19th at 8:30
Level 3 – Swing
To cater for some of our advancing dancers we have created a brand new level 3 class on Thursdays. This is designed to extend those already comfortable with our current level 2/3 class and wanting to delve into some the more complex dance theory and movement. It operates as an invitation only class to ensure that attendees are comfortable with the material being taught. We will be asking people to join over the course of the year, but if you’re interested and think it may suit you, please ask and we can have a chat.

At Full Swing we offer both private lessons and tailored wedding dances to help create something awesome on your special day. Whether it is just for you or you want the whole bridal party to learn a few steps contact us and we’ll be happy to help.
We can also help out with private lessons for groups or individuals wanting to learn the basics, or just needing a bit of help moving to the next level.
We usually get a few requests around this time, so if you are planning to swing at the wedding or just want to generally improve your dancing,

The Liberty Swing Band was on a break this month, but we are all gearing up for the exciting Garden Magic programme. If you hear of any other danceable gigs over summer let us know and we can load it on the web and Facebook and get everyone along.
Gangbusters 1st Anniversary
Friday, January 14 · 8:30pm - 11:30pm
Watusi, 6 Edward Street
Happy new year! What better way to kick-start 2011 than stepping back in time to the speakeasies of eighty years prior?
Celebrate a year of Gangbusters at Watusi by joining us in the bar's retro surrounds, enjoying old-style cocktails and the swingin' sounds of the 1930s - 50s.
So drag out your best vintage threads, and come loll by the bar or step it out on the dance floor.
Entry is $2 on the door. All welcome.

X Ray Catz at the Botanic gardens
Saturday, January 15 · 8:00pm - 9:30pm
Wellington botanic gardens soundshell
Think Elvis Presley and Jerry Lee Lewis. Think authentic 1950's classic rockabilly music. X Ray Catz are the brainchild of four seasoned Wellington musicians who first got together over plates of barbequed meat and a bottle of Watties and decided to put their combined talents together and create X Ray Catz.
Should be a great night for a bit of a boogie!
